Been a while, huh?!?

The blog just goes to show you what my diet and exercise life has been: Non-Existent.

This is not much of a surprise to me.

As you can tell from my last post, I've got an affection for all things fast food. This was a real problem a while ago. I couldn't stop.

I found myself grabbing breakfast from the Burger King on my way to work. I've got a special place in my heart for 'the King'! I mean, seriously... the King and me is like THIS ::crosses fingers:: SON!!

To combat it this urge, I found myself heading the opposite direction, taking the 'long way' to work.

Yeah... sounds good, in theory, however there are TWO McDumpsters on the way that route!!

Jeez... how planned out this crap!?!

Although this may sound silly to some people, I actually had to PRAY that God would take away the urge and temptation. Most people don't understand 'Food Addiction'. They can't seem to grasp that just like you get addicted to smoking, or working out, drinking, shopping, etc. you can also become addicted to food. You can read more about the science of food addictions here.

As with any habit, it's simply a matter of breaking this non-sense obsession!

"They" say that it takes 21 days to form a habit. Meaning, if you go to the gym 21 days in a row, at the same time, doing a similar length work out - you should have developed a habit by the 22 day.

It's like getting up for work.

You're body has set kind of an 'internal alarm clock' that wakes you up in the morning, should you forget to set your alarm at night... know what I'm sayin'?

Well, using this principle, I figure it takes 21 days to BREAK a habit.

So, for the next 21 days, I refuse to go to ANY fast food establishment, not even for a soda (which I do quite frequently)... I'll try to sort out the 'exercise' thing later...

Wish me luck!

So... yeah...

One day I'll get on the diet, and actually mean it. Or perhaps I'll make it to the gym and actully work out.

Why do I want to rebel against this?

It's hard to do... especially by yourself. Recomendation number one: GET A WORKOUT/DIET PARTNER.

I'm taking applications right now for a gym mate. Please inquire within.

It may sound silly to some of you, but please pray for me.

Monday and Tuesday | Days 1&2 recap.

It's a pretty short recap, actually.

As you can see by my lack of posting, I also have what some may call a "lack of discipline." This certainly does not stop at my Blogging life... it spans to pretty much every area of my life.

Diet = Already Broken
Gym = Already Vacant
Slim = Already Dissappointed

BUT... today is a new day. As a matter of fact, I believe that today is the first day of the rest of my life, if I understood that correctly.

I missed the gym today, because my phone froze up (DON'T EVER GET A SMART PHONE!) at 5:45am this morning which subsequently kept me asleep long enough to miss the gym and be late for work as well.

I'll still hit the diet as usual though: vitamins, calcium, and fish oils with my protien shake.

A salad with ground turkey for lunch.... and I'll just have to keep you posted on dinner.

Sorry... in the words of Saul Williams: "My people, let Pharoh go."

Sunday. Pre-Day 1.

So, I start back on the diet and gym tomorrow morning. Yay....

I've been off of both of them, for the most part, since Christmas. It's hard sometimes to start a habit... and even harder, it seems to get BACK INTO the habit once you've broken it!

Before I get into routine, I'll just run down the day.

It was really hard to fall asleep last night, and even harder to wake up this morning! I would imagine that the poor food going through my body didn't help! I finally fell to sleep at around 3:45am and was woken up at 6:30am by my alarm informing me that I needed to get up and get to church.

I didn't feel 'good.'

I wasn't sick... just wasn't good.

I fought the temptation to go to McDonald's (for my FAVORITE: #2 | Bacon, Egg and Cheese McMuffin) and made it into the church, only to find that my good friend, Johnny D, had brought in McMuffin's and Biscuits for everyone. I only hate half of one, whcich made me rather proud... so proud, in fact, that I felt the need to reward myself with a donut.

Lunch was a turkey sammitch.... and later in the evening: Chicken Alfredo at my mom and dads.

My last night of freedom. I seem to have many of those 'last' nights.

Back on it though.

I will be working out about 5 days/week (M-F) in the mornings from about 8am-9am. It's not a HUGE long workout, and should be easy to stick with:
*30 Minutes of cardio (mostly on the elliptical maching)
*20 Minutes of lower weight, higher reps weight-traning
*10 Minutes of abdominal work

I work out at Anytime Fitness, in Bonita Springs (www.anytimebonita.com). It's super to cheap to use this TWENTY FOUR HOUR gym! If you would like to know more about Anytime Fitness, let me know.

As far as a diet goes... it's realitivly simple: AWAY with counting calories! Say what!?! That's right... no more having to count calories!

This is a very simple high protien/fiber, low sugar/fat diet. Everything is based on portions and servings.

To keep up with me, you'll need to run to Publix, Alberstons, Walgreens, or any other store or pharmacy and pick up a good multi-vitamin, calcium pills, and fish oil pills. You'll be taking one of your multi-vitamins and calciums daily, along with three of the fish oils.

You can take these easily with breakfast.

From day to day, you'll be eating a diet consisting of the following:
4 Servings of Protien
6 Servings of Vegetables
4 Servings of Fruit
3 Servings of Starch and
4 Servings of Fat

All-in-all, it's actually a good bit of food!

We'll start off with our daily protien shake:
1 Cup of DANNON Lite and Fit Vanilla yogurt
1 Cup of FROZEN berries
1 WHOLE banana
and 1 Serving sizes of a protien shake powder (I suggest 'Pure Protien', which is available at most grocery stores)

Put all of these ingredients in a blender and blend until the berries have been broken down.

This will keep you going through the gym, and will take 1 Protien, 3 Fruits and 1 Vegetable for your day.

Do your work out and relax with a protien bar (again, I suggest 'Pure Protien') afterwards. We're going to be eating about every 3 hours: Meal-Snack-Meal-Snack-Meal-Snack.

If we stick to this, we can lose up to 2lbs/week! Which means roughly 100lbs. in ONE YEAR!

Now, please keep in mind that this diet is for people 350lbs.+ and you should ALWAYS consult your doctor BEFORE starting a diet and exercise regimine!

Alright folks... I'm off to bed, hoping to get better sleep tonight! By the way, did I mention that not only is this diet and exercise super easy, but will help you sleep better to!?!?

It's simple.

The old addage goes: You are what you eat.

Simply put, if you fill yourself of with healthy things: You will be healthy. If you fill up on crappy things: You will be crappy.

And seriously, who wants to be crappy?

I'll get into my story in my profile... but that'll come later. But for now, I'll just say that at ONE POINT in my life I was SEVEN HUNDRED POUNDS. That's about 4.25 Justin Timberlakes. Less than two years later I managed to get down below 400lbs (or roughly 2.5 Justin Timberlakes.)

HOWEVER, recently I've begun to 'give up' on my diet. To eat whatever I feel like, whenever I feel like it and have subsequently balloned back up to about 425 pounds. This has gotta stop.

I've decided to continue my journey in kind of a new way..

I'm going to really start putting myself out there... reasons are multiple.

1.) I want people to REALLY see what is going on in my diet and exercise life.
2.) I want to REALLY see how far God can take me through both a PHYSICAL transformation as well as a SPIRITUAL transformation.
3.) I want to show other fat guys that there REALLY is a way to fight all of the excuses that we use: no time, time money, heredity, etc.

Here's the deal guys (and girls): this is possible. We CAN take control of our lives again! I doesn't matter what your age is... what your profession is... what your families health is.

(L-R: My older brother, birth father, and me - the day before my wedding 9/15/07)

I got your back.

From this day foward, I'll be posting (hopefully everyday) what my daily struggles and triumphs are... what I've been eating and how it affects my weight loss (or gain) and what seems to be the best plan of action for an exercise.

Join the fight. Join me. Victory will be ours!
